SPAIN. (AGENCIALAVOZ.ORG) English Evangelical Alliance (EEA) has launched a campaign to send emails to promote religious freedom and human rights in Morocco.
The campaign was launched, according to information provided by ESA Efe, following the "serious recent events in Morocco, notably the expulsion of 70 Christians in the first ten days of March 26 simultaneously forcing them to close down an orphanage that was ten years running.
"particularly serious" is the latter case, say the evangelicals, which the police intervened in the village of Ain Leuhan, culminating with the closing of the orphanage "Village of Hope" (Hope Village), which had more than ten years running, and that in addition to the mandatory government authorization opening inspections received and exceeded prescribed period.
"It is obvious, says the ESA, which over the years the authorities knew that its leaders were Christians. In spite of this situation to comply with applicable law, in less than seven hours the entire staff had to leave the country and leave of children to the orphanage provided a stable environment and are now in an extremely precarious situation. "
Evangelical Alliance calls copy and paste the statement of protest of the ESA in an e-mail, sent to the Embassy of Morocco and the English Foreign Ministry. The announcement
ESA claims a "organized anti-Christian campaign" that "Christians of different nationalities living in different parts of the country were questioned and deported within 24 hours under false accusations of proselytism, even without a legitimate right to defend themselves in court proceedings prior.
"This unwarranted action, says the Alliance has been organized from the highest levels of the Government of Morocco, coinciding with the appointment of new interior minister, Taieb Cherkaoui. It also denounces
ESA's statement that "under the false accusation of proselytism is to cover up the 'active passivity' Executive of Morocco, which leads to de facto breach of art. 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (freedom of thought, conscience and religion).
"The Moroccan government action is the best example, says the ESA, of the paradox that the Kingdom of Morocco in the art. 6 of the Constitution proclaims the Law of Religious Freedom, while the art. 200 of the Penal Code penalizing any activity that might induce another to abandon their religion. "
